Champion Black at Waikato Show

02/11/2010 10:56

The Waikato Show is now one of the largest Alpaca Shows outside of the AANZ National Expo with around 300 entries including many of the Champions from the Nationals.

The Alpacaspecialist Elvis sired brothers, Waiheke Black Soverign and Waiheke Black Sheik,  won Junior Black Male first and second respectively in a large class of "who's who" in the NZ and Australian black breeding fraternity. The pair then went on to compete in the Sires Progeny to achieve second against a huge contingency running off white and fawn pairings from well-known sires around the country.

To wrap up the day, Waiheke Black Soverign lined up for the intensively competitive Black Championship which also included the 2010 AANZ National Black Champion. We were delighted to see Soverign awarded the Black Championship. Waiheke born and bred Soverign beat imported black contenders and shows his consistant championship quality. A truely amazing young male with huge potential!

Both these males have been sold for stud duties- Soverign exported to Holland and Sheik sold to KeriKeri.
