Waiheke Phenomenon ET wins Supreme at Kumeu

15/03/2011 13:21

Supreme Champion Huacaya and Champion Mid/Dark Fawn at just 6 months old was an outstanding achievement for Waiheke Phenomenon ET at the Kumeu A&P Show 2011. This young male is a product of our extensive Embryo Transfer program, being from one of our best combinations of Benleigh Sancho and Silverstream Divinity. Other highlights at the Show were Waiheke Black Soverign winning first place in a class of seven Black Intermediate Male Huacayas, a great end to his showing career in New Zealand before being exported to Holland. Also Waiheke Black Sheik took first in the Junior Black Male class and Waiheke Alejandro was awarded first place in his Junior White/Light Fawn Male class then going on to be a strong contender for the White/Light Fawn Championship. Our Rose Grey ET donor female Sunberry did her time in the ring adding another first place to her list of accolades from around Australia and New Zealand. At the end of the first day, Phenomenon and his half sister from Tio Farm Alpacas competed in the Sires Progeny for Sancho, being awarded second place. The next day in the Suri breed, Waiheke Black Knight and Waiheke Midnight Oil again took first and second place in their Junior Male class before then going on to win Champion Sires Progeny for their sire Surilana Blackbeard. Our Suri stud male Surilana Troubador did well again winning Champion Mid/Dark Fawn Suri, beating the younger animals and others in full fleece, he is now working well and is available for limited outside matings.

Overall the show was a great success and it was very pleasing to see the continous flow of public through the alpaca section over the whole weekend.
